Living in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe lies in southern Africa between Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Botswana and has around 16.9 million inhabitants. The landlocked country is characterized by plateaus, savannas and river valleys; the Zambezi runs along the north. A dry season follows the usually warm rainy season, while conditions are milder at higher elevations. In Harare and Bulawayo, many people live in houses or apartments and get around by buses, minibuses and cars. In rural regions, villages, family farms and longer journeys to markets or schools are typical. Work is found, among other sectors, in agriculture, mining, trade and services. In their free time, people get together for music, sports, family visits and shared meals.
