Living in Zambia
Zambia is located in southern Africa and borders, among others, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Around 17.4 million people live there. The country is characterized by vast plateaus, miombo woodlands, savannas and large rivers such as the Zambezi. A warm rainy season is usually followed by a long dry period; lower valleys are hotter, while the plateaus have a milder climate. In Lusaka and the cities of the Copperbelt, many people live in densely built-up neighborhoods, travel by minibus and work in trade, services or mining. In rural areas, agriculture, markets, family life and community celebrations shape daily life; leisure often takes place in clubs, with music or football.
