School in Kuwait

School education in Kuwait is organised in stages that usually include kindergarten, primary education, intermediate education, and secondary education. The names and internal structure can differ between school systems. Public schools follow a national curriculum supervised by the Ministry of Education. Arabic, Islamic education, Kuwaiti or Arab social studies, mathematics, science, and other subjects form important parts of this pathway. Private schools serve many families, including expatriate families. They may use an Arabic curriculum, a bilingual curriculum, or an international curriculum connected with another country or examination system. English is widely used in many private and international schools, especially for mathematics, science, and administration. Arabic remains important for communication, local life, and social belonging, even when most lessons are in English. School admission can depend on age, previous school records, available places, residence documents, and the school's own assessment. Transfer between curricula may require placement tests, document checks, or additional support. The school day normally combines lessons, breaks, attendance rules, homework, assessments, and communication with parents. Some schools also provide transport, activities, learning support, and safeguarding procedures. Public and private schools can differ in fees, class size, teaching style, language, facilities, and recognition of certificates. A more expensive or more international school is not automatically the best fit for every child. Families should compare the curriculum, language balance, travel time, support for new students, assessment method, and next-step options. Keep report cards, transfer papers, vaccination or health records when required, and copies of identity documents in an organised file.
