Living in Vietnam
Vietnam is located in Southeast Asia, borders China, Laos and Cambodia, and stretches along a long coastline on the South China Sea. Around 95.5 million people live in the country. Mountains, river deltas, rice fields and tropical forests shape the landscape. The north has more distinct seasons, while the south is warm and humid year-round; along the coast, typhoons can affect daily life. In cities, many people live in narrow houses, commute by motorbike and buy groceries at markets or small shops. In rural areas, rice cultivation, fishing and handicrafts shape the daily rhythm. Cafés, family visits and shared meals are common leisure activities in many places, while Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the coastal regions and mountainous areas each have very different characteristics.
