Living in Uganda

Uganda is located in East Africa, on Lake Victoria and between South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Around 42.7 million people live in the country. Savannas, fertile hilly landscapes, tropical forests and mountains shape its natural environment. The climate is generally warm but varies by region: around Lake Victoria it is more humid, in the north drier, while the mountains bring cooler temperatures and more rainfall. In Kampala, many people live in rented apartments or houses with yards; outside the cities, brick houses and rural homesteads are common. Many commute to work by minibus or motorcycle taxi, while others cultivate fields, trade in markets or work in services. In the evenings, people often get together with family and friends over music, sports or shared meals.
