Art in Uganda

Art in Uganda spans visual art, music, literature, film, performing arts, architecture, design, photography, digital work and crafts. Public support and regulation are distributed across MGLSD, Uganda National Cultural Centre, National Theatre, Nommo Gallery, Uganda Museums, URSB, UCC, the National Library of Uganda, Makerere University and other institutions rather than one identified national arts council. Formal study, professional practice, community traditions and informal creative work operate alongside one another. Copyright protection, permits, contracts, venue access and evidence of training or work shape practical participation.
