Living in Turkey

Turkey lies between Europe and Asia and borders the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Around 82.3 million people live in the country. The landscape and climate vary greatly: coastal areas generally have mild winters and warm summers, while the interior is drier and can have cold winters. In the east, high mountains and vast plateaus shape the landscape. Many people live in densely built-up cities, often in larger residential complexes; in rural areas, smaller communities and detached houses are common. In cities, people get around by bus, train and ferry, while outside cities, cars are more important. People work in industry, trade, agriculture and services, and leisure activities range from visiting family and sharing meals to sports and walks.
