Unemployment in Trinidad and Tobago

Unemployment in Trinidad and Tobago is measured as having no work while looking for work; the labour force covers people aged 15 and over who are working or willing and able to work. In the first quarter of 2025, 28,900 people were recorded as unemployed, with a 4.9% unemployment rate and 54.3% labour-force participation. Trinidad and Tobago has no evidenced active statutory unemployment-insurance cash benefit, so support is divided among free job services, temporary work and conditional social assistance. The National Employment Service provides public job matching, counselling and referrals.
