Professions in Syria

Occupations in Syria range from reconstruction trades, agriculture and manufacturing to health, education, transport, ICT and professional services. Entry may come through workplace learning, formal apprenticeship, technical and vocational education, university study or self-employment. Syria has no single national occupational register or unified qualification framework, so certificates, licences and practical experience are assessed through different authorities.

Tip

Choose the entry pathway according to the occupation, the proof of skill you need and whether the work requires a licence. Informal learning can provide a fast start in a general trade, while apprenticeship or TVET gives stronger documentary proof; regulated professions require verified qualifications and permission to practise. Confirm the responsible authority, documents, costs and worker protections before accepting work or paying for training.
