Living in Sweden
Sweden lies in northern Europe and stretches from the Baltic Sea far beyond the Arctic Circle; around 10.2 million people live there. Vast forests, countless lakes, archipelago coasts and mountain ranges shape the country. Winters are generally milder in the south, while long, cold winters and bright summer nights are part of the annual cycle in the north. Many people live in cities or suburbs, while in the north and inland they also live in small communities with greater distances between them. Daily life is shaped by well-developed transport links, public services and digital forms of work. Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö offer a wide range of jobs and a vibrant cultural scene; in rural regions, nature, associations and local communities play a greater role.
