Living in St Vincent and Grenadines

St. Vincent and the Grenadines are located in the eastern Caribbean, north of Grenada, and consist of the main island of St. Vincent and a chain of smaller islands. Around 110,211 people live there. Volcanic mountains, tropical rainforest, bays and coral reefs shape the landscape. The climate is warm year-round; the eastern side of St. Vincent receives more rain than the more sheltered western side, while the Grenadines are often drier. Many people live in coastal communities in concrete or wooden houses. On St. Vincent, buses connect the communities, while boats and small aircraft operate between the islands. Jobs are available, among other sectors, in agriculture, fishing, services and tourism. In Kingstown, daily life is more urban, while on the smaller islands it is shaped more strongly by community, the sea and short distances.
