Shopping in Somalia

Traditional markets and street shops remain important channels for groceries, clothing, household goods and personal care products. Supermarkets and specialist stores offer more structured purchasing, while local online and delivery services provide ordering, home delivery or collection in some urban areas. Somalia has no single nationwide retail directory, so the available shops, products and delivery zones depend on the city, provider and local security or transport conditions. Grocery prices can change quickly because of seasonal supply, imports, transport conditions and conflict-related disruption. Cereals became substantially more expensive in several markets between late 2025 and early 2026. Skincare, haircare, baby products, cleaning products and household goods are sold through supermarkets, shops and online channels. Clothing is available through suuq markets, boutiques and online sellers, but reliable information about origin, quality and a uniform return or guarantee period is not available nationwide. Technology purchases commonly include smartphones, televisions, appliances, accessories and other gadgets.
