Living in Saint Lucia

St. Lucia is an island nation in the eastern Caribbean, between Martinique and St. Vincent. Around 181,889 people live there. The landscape ranges from volcanic mountains and dense rainforest to bays and beaches. The tropical climate is usually warm; the mountains receive more rain, while the coasts can be drier and sunnier. Life in and around Castries is denser and more urban than in smaller communities in the south and interior of the island. Many people live in simple houses or small residential settlements, travel by minibus, and work in tourism, trade, services, agriculture, or fishing. Leisure activities include the sea, sports, music, and shared celebrations.
