Arrival in Saint Lucia

Check the entry requirements for your nationality, purpose and planned length of stay directly with Saint Lucia Immigration or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before booking travel. Do not rely on a general six-month rule. A passport, onward or return ticket, accommodation confirmation or invitation, travel plan and evidence of funds may be requested. A visa, where required, should be applied for at least two weeks before travel. Official processing is about five working days. Published fees are EC$125 for a single-entry visa valid for three months and EC$190 for a multiple-entry visa valid for one year, but current requirements and fees should be confirmed before applying. Air travelers can complete the Electronic Immigration Form online no more than three days before departure. One form covers a family. The QR code arrives by email and should be kept digitally or printed together with the passport. The form applies to air arrivals and does not replace a visa or guarantee entry. Saint Lucia has Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux Fort and George F. L. Charles Airport in Castries. The usual airport sequence is immigration, baggage collection, customs and the arranged transfer. Confirm the flight and pickup time in advance because transfers may take longer on steep or winding roads. Sea arrivals are processed at Port Castries or Port Vieux Fort, with smaller arrival points at Soufriere, Marigot and Rodney Bay Marina. Cruise passengers follow the arrangements made by the Port Authority and cruise line. A short cruise call does not automatically provide the same conditions as a regular stay, so nationality and itinerary-specific requirements still apply. Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority operates the two airports, the two main seaports and smaller arrival points. An immigration officer makes the entry decision; a ticket or accommodation booking does not guarantee admission. Declare goods bought outside Saint Lucia through the customs form at the arrival point or through the airline or ship agent. The declaration should identify the item and its price. Personal effects are generally excluded, but prohibited or restricted imports should not be carried without checking the applicable rules. Indicative allowances for travelers aged 18 or older include 40 fluid ounces of alcohol, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 2 kilograms of tobacco, and gifts up to EC$270 once per year. False information can cause delays or penalties. Customs passenger processing is listed at about five minutes with no fee, commonly during 8:00 to 16:30, although local hours and procedures can differ by arrival point. Keep the accommodation address, transfer details, passport copy, immigration QR code and emergency contacts available offline. Tourism information is available at the airports and in Castries and Soufriere, while accommodation providers and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority can help with practical first-day information. Call 911 for emergencies. The Saint Lucia Fire Service provides fire response, emergency medical response, rescue and public safety services. Health care includes Community Wellness Centres, Polyclinics, Community Hospitals, Millennium Heights Medical Complex and OKEU, and St. Jude Hospital; private care is separate. Access, opening times and costs depend on the facility and the traveler's status, so arrange travel insurance, regular medication and relevant medical documents before departure. Saint Lucia does not use one general nationwide newcomer registration step for every arrival. Follow-up procedures depend on the reason and length of stay, such as residence, employment, study, a driving licence, tax matters or National Insurance. These processes have their own requirements and should be checked with the responsible authority.
