Living in Romania

Romania is located in southeastern Europe, on the Black Sea, and has around 19.5 million inhabitants. The Carpathians run through the country, along with fertile plains, the Danube, and the extensive Danube Delta. The climate is predominantly temperate continental: summers can be hot, while the mountains are considerably cooler and have snow-rich winters. In Bucharest and other cities, many people live in apartments, while single-family homes and larger farmsteads are common in the countryside. They commute by car, bus, or train; important sectors include services, industry, and agriculture. Family visits, markets, cafés, and outings in nature are part of leisure time in many places, while everyday life differs between the major city, the coast, Transylvania, and rural regions.
