Living in Poland

Poland is located in Central Europe and stretches from the Baltic coast to the Carpathian Mountains. Around 38 million people live in a country of vast plains, lakes, forests, and mountains. Along the coast and in the north, the climate is influenced by the Baltic Sea, while winters in the south and in the mountains are often colder and snowier. In cities such as Warsaw, Kraków, or Wrocław, many people live in apartments and use buses, trams, or trains; in smaller towns, detached houses and cars are more common. People work, among other sectors, in industry, services, agriculture, and IT. Cafés, sports, visits to family, and trips into nature are common leisure activities in many places.
