Living in Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea lies north of Australia in the western Pacific and comprises the eastern half of the island of New Guinea as well as numerous islands; around 8.6 million people live there. Tropical rainforests, coral reefs, rivers, and rugged highlands shape the landscape. The coasts are generally hot and humid, while it is considerably cooler in the mountains and can be cold at night. Daily life varies greatly between Port Moresby, other cities, remote villages, and the highland regions. People live in urban homes or village houses, travel by car, bus, boat, or on foot depending on the area, work in offices, trade, agriculture, or fishing, and meet at markets, family celebrations, and community activities.
