Religion in Niger

Islam is the dominant religion in Niger, with more than 98% of the population identified as Muslim and Sunni and Maliki traditions especially widespread. Christian, Baha'i and Indigenous belief communities also practice their faith, although they represent a small share of the population. Religious practice includes worship, Qur'an recitation, sermons, fasting, charity and ceremonies for marriage, naming and funerals.
