Disasters in Niger

Niger faces severe disaster risks from seasonal flooding, drought, desertification, extreme heat, storms, bushfires and related food or water emergencies. Protection Civile, the Direction Générale de la Protection Civile (DGPC), the COVACC crisis centre and local authorities coordinate warnings, response and recovery. Flooding is especially significant along the Niger River, the Komadougou Yobé, the Goulbi Maradi and the Kori de Telwa.
