Living in Ivory Coast

Côte d’Ivoire is located in West Africa on the Gulf of Guinea and has around 25.1 million people. In the south, humid tropical forests, lagoons and long rainy seasons shape the landscape, while the north is drier and transitions into savanna; there, the rainy and dry seasons alternate distinctly. In Abidjan and other cities, many people live in densely built neighbourhoods, travel by bus, taxi or motorcycle, and work in trade, services and industry. Outside the cities, agriculture and regional markets shape everyday life, including the cultivation of cocoa, coffee, cotton and cashews. Visiting family, music, football and shared meals are part of leisure time in many places.
