Media in Grenada

Grenada has a fragmented media landscape. Print publications operate in English, while local radio and television stations are mostly private. Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) is owned by One Caribbean Media, which holds 60 percent, and the Government of Grenada, which holds 40 percent. GBN provides television and the radio stations Hott FM, Klassic FM and GBN Gospel, with local news and talk programmes and an online live television service. The Government Information Service (GIS) coordinates the distribution of government programmes. Government portals and press releases provide official information, but the GIS function alone does not establish editorial independence. The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, known as the NTRC, regulates technical broadcasting matters, spectrum use, licences and consumer complaints.
