TAMCC is Grenada’s public tertiary college, with locations at Tanteen in St. George’s, the agriculture department at Mirabeau in St. Andrew and additional provision in St. Patrick. It offers Certificates, Associate Degrees and Bachelor Degrees across areas such as Arts and Humanities, Business, Natural and Related Sciences, Social Sciences and Teacher Education. Some technical and professional programmes lead to tertiary qualifications. An Associate Degree commonly represents about 60 credits and takes around two to three years, while a Bachelor Degree often takes about three to four years; the exact duration and credit requirement depend on the programme. UWI Global Campus Grenada operates from Marryshow House in St. George’s and provides part-time and online regional study. Its offerings include Associate Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as local CPE and Professional Certificates. Distance study requires suitable computer and internet access. Programme availability depends on sufficient enrolment, and fees depend on the programme and number of credits. For the 2026/27 cycle, the regional application period was listed as January 26 to July 31, 2026, with supporting documents due within two weeks. The Grenada site listed August 25, 2026 as the closing date for the September 2026 intake; other UWI information lists August and January intakes. SGU is a private provider with programmes in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Arts and Sciences and Graduate Studies. Its four-year Doctor of Medicine programme normally requires a Bachelor Degree and specified science prerequisites. Applicants without a North American background generally do not need the MCAT, but may need an English-language test. Five-, six- and seven-year medical study options accept different prior qualifications, including A-Levels, approved foundation study, the International Baccalaureate or further secondary education. The Grenada-only seven-year medical option generally requires at least six IGCSE subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and English, usually with grades of B or better. Medical study begins with basic sciences in Grenada and includes clinical years in Grenada, the United States or the United Kingdom. SGU also offers a four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programme and foundation options for applicants with different prior preparation. Clinical training may take place outside Grenada. Typical entry evidence includes CSEC or GCE O-Level results for basic access and CAPE or A-Level results for more advanced entry. CSEC means the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate, while CAPE means the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination. An Associate Degree commonly requires four or five CSEC or GCE O-Level subjects. A Bachelor Degree commonly requires five CSEC subjects or a relevant Associate Degree. English A and, for some programmes, Mathematics or specific sciences may be required. Institutions assess transfer credit and prior qualifications themselves; recognition is not automatic. TAMCC requires at least five CSEC subjects, including English A, for many Associate Degree applications. Some programmes may provisionally accept seven CSEC subjects without English A or Mathematics if the missing subject is completed by the next academic year. Programme-specific subjects also apply. An application normally includes a certified CSEC result and a birth certificate or passport. The application fee is EC$50 before the deadline and EC$100 afterwards. The usual deadline is the last working day of April, although late applications may sometimes be accepted. TAMCC does not generally offer deferral under the stated policy, so an applicant may need to apply again for the following academic year. Eligible Grenadian nationals generally pay no tuition for full-time TAMCC programmes. For 2026/27, stated exceptions included EC$3,000 per year for Cosmetology Service Technician and EC$1,200 per year for Accounting Technician. Part-time study was listed at EC$275 per course per semester, CARICOM students at EC$400 per course per semester and international students at EC$1,068 per course per semester. Registration, uniforms, examinations and graduation can create additional charges. Student Affairs may provide tuition, transport, breakfast, counselling or academic-guidance assistance according to need. TAMCC lists a minimum GPA of 2.0 and an honours threshold of 3.5. A regular transcript costs EC$50 and normally takes about three working days; same-day service costs EC$75. Graduation is generally held on the third Thursday of July. SGU costs are substantially higher and vary by programme and intake. The 2025/26 SGU table listed total Medicine tuition and administrative charges of US$376,986, excluding living expenses and other costs. For Veterinary Medicine, the 2026/27 tuition, administrative charges and insurance total was listed as US$245,094 or US$256,767 depending on the matriculation cohort, excluding living expenses and the graduation fee. Rates can change. SGU offers scholarships and financial aid, but eligibility differs by applicant and programme. US federal loans are limited to eligible United States citizens or permanent residents under SGU rules. Government of Grenada scholarship announcements and regional or overseas scholarship programmes provide other possible funding sources, without guaranteeing an award. Before paying an application or tuition fee, verify that the institution and programme are registered and check its current quality status. The Grenada National Accreditation Board (GNAB) is the statutory registration and quality-assurance body under the Accreditation Act No. 15 of 2011 and Amendment No. 31 of 2014. Every post-secondary or tertiary institution operating in Grenada, Carriacou or Petite Martinique must be registered. Registration does not itself mean that a programme is accredited. Check the GNAB register or status report, the programme’s admission rules, current fees, refund provisions and progression requirements. A qualification may need separate assessment for transfer, further study, employment or professional licensing. GNAB handles recognition or equivalence questions for foreign qualifications. Medicine, veterinary medicine and pharmacy have additional external licensing or registration requirements, and completing a degree does not automatically grant permission to practise. TAMCC Associate Degrees may support progression to Bachelor or higher study at regional institutions, but credit transfer must be approved by the receiving institution. UWI and SGU graduates likewise need to check the requirements of the institution, employer or professional body that will use the qualification.
Study in Grenada
Tertiary study in Grenada leads to a recognised qualification. It takes place at a university, college or equivalent institution. Main providers include TAMCC, UWI Global Campus Grenada and SGU. They differ in subjects, admission rules, study format and cost.
Tip
Choose the institution by subject, study format, eligibility and total cost rather than by name alone. TAMCC is usually the strongest starting point for eligible Grenadian nationals seeking lower-cost full-time study, UWI suits flexible part-time or online study, and SGU fits specialised medical or veterinary education only when its high costs and later licensing requirements are manageable.
