Health in Grenada

Grenada's health system serves Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. It combines public clinics, hospitals, private providers and nonprofit services. Six Health Centres and about 30 Medical Stations provide primary care. Three public hospitals provide acute, referral and emergency care.

Tip

Treat health care in Grenada as facility- and island-dependent: use primary care for routine needs, confirm referral and transport arrangements for hospital care, and do not delay emergency treatment over payment questions. Keep written estimates, referral or discharge papers and medicine instructions because charges, availability and National Health Insurance coverage are not uniform. Arrange follow-up before leaving the facility, especially for chronic conditions, mental-health care or treatment that may require travel between islands.
