Media in North Korea

Media in North Korea are organized around state-controlled newspapers, broadcasting and digital networks. KCNA supplies approved news, while KCTV and other state channels provide television; Kwangmyong is a domestic intranet rather than the open global internet. Access varies with location, electricity, equipment and institutional status, while independent journalism, open social media and regular global internet access are generally unavailable to the population.

Tip

Treat media in North Korea as a controlled information system, not as a normal choice among independent news, social media and open streaming services. Use the authorized channel that fits your purpose, and treat foreign media, unauthorized reception and external networks as serious personal and family risks.
