Living in Croatia

Croatia is located in southeastern Europe on the Adriatic and, in addition to its continental mainland, includes numerous islands. Around 3.9 million people live there. The landscape ranges from fertile plains and densely forested hills to the mountains of the Dinaric Alps. The coast has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, while the interior is significantly more continental. In Zagreb, many people live in apartments and use buses, trams, or cars; in smaller towns, detached houses and cars are more commonly part of everyday life. Along the coast, port cities, ferry connections, fishing, services, and seasonal work shape daily life. Leisure time is often spent by the sea, in cafés, playing sports, or with family.
