State in Comoros

The Comoros is a sovereign, unitary democratic republic governed under the Constitution of 2001, revised in 2009, 2013 and 2018. The Union, three autonomous islands and communes share public responsibilities, while the Union retains national powers such as foreign policy, defence and monetary policy. Public institutions include the President, Government, Assembly of the Union, courts, ministries, governors and mayors. The Comorian franc remains tied to the euro through the France-Comoros monetary cooperation.
