Kabudayaan di Brunei mancakupi tahap-tahap kehidupan, sajarah, seni, agama, bahasa, tradisi, jo caro hidup basamo. Islam adolah agama resmi, bahasa Melayu adolah bahasa resmi, dan falsafah nagari Melayu Islam Beraja mambantu mambentuk kabudayaan umum jo identitas nasional. Tujuh kelompok masyarakat (puak), keluarga, institusi, jo komunitas lokal manjago ragam ekspresi malalui upacara, karya kreatif, bahasa, jo hubungan sahari-hari.

History

The history of Brunei covers early regional contacts, the rise of the Islamic sultanate, territorial change, British protection, Japanese occupation, oil-based development and independence in 1984. Evidence includes Chinese records, Malay manuscripts, genealogies, oral histories, archaeology, treaties, administrative records and constitutional documents. Early references to names such as P'o-li, Poli, Puni and Boni remain debated and do not automatically identify Brunei.

Everyday coexistence in Brunei combines state law with local practices in the kampung, meaning village or settlement, and the mukim, an administrative subdivision. Residents handle many neighbourhood concerns through the Ketua Kampung, the Penghulu Mukim and local consultative councils, while JAPEM and national helplines support serious social, family and child-welfare problems. Public conduct, digital communication and access to shared spaces also follow specific legal and administrative rules.
