Living in Brazil

Brazil lies in eastern South America and stretches from the Atlantic deep into the interior; around 209.5 million people live there. The country extends from the Amazon Basin across savannas and wetlands to long coastlines. The north is generally hot and humid, while the south has significantly cooler winters; altitude and rainy seasons shape regional differences. Many people live in apartments in large cities such as São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, while single-family homes are common in smaller towns. Depending on the region, they commute by bus, train, car, or motorcycle. Markets, football, music, family celebrations, and beaches are popular leisure activities in many places.
