Living in Botswana

Botswana is located in southern Africa and borders, among others, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The country has around 2.3 million people. Large parts belong to the dry Kalahari; in the north lie the water-rich Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. A hot rainy season is followed by a dry, often cooler winter period. In Gaborone and other cities, detached houses, shopping centers, and cars shape everyday life, while in rural regions greater distances, livestock farming, and smaller settlements are common. Many people work in administration, trade, mining, agriculture, or services. Leisure time is spent playing sports, visiting family, and sharing meals; regional differences are particularly evident between the capital, the villages, and the north.
