Health in Barbados

Barbados has a nationwide public health system covering primary care, hospital treatment, emergency services, mental health, prevention, medicines and long-term care. Primary care is provided mainly through nine Polyclinics and two Satellite Clinics, while Queen Elizabeth Hospital provides acute, specialist and emergency treatment. Access, payment and eligibility depend on citizenship or residence status, urgency and whether the service is available publicly.
