Traditions in Antigua and Barbuda

Traditions in Antigua and Barbuda combine public festivals with family, community, church and occupational practices passed between generations. Antigua Carnival and Barbuda’s Caribana are the most prominent annual expressions, while Warri, steelpan, calypso, boatbuilding, National Dress and oral storytelling also remain culturally significant. Public participation is generally open, but bands, competitions, private fetes and parades follow organizer, registration, safety and traffic rules. Formal protection and revival work is developing, while many everyday and life-cycle practices remain informal and locally varied.
