The Polish words wynajem and najem refer to renting, and mieszkanie means apartment or flat. The rental agreement is called umowa najmu. It should identify the parties, address, duration, payment, deposit, included equipment, repairs, notice arrangements, and rules for ending the tenancy. Kaucja is a deposit held to cover agreed risks such as damage or unpaid amounts. Ask when it will be returned and which deductions can be made, and record the condition of the home at move-in. Czynsz can mean a recurring housing charge, but its exact contents vary. Media usually means utilities such as water, heating, electricity, or waste-related services, and these may be included, estimated, or billed separately. Before paying, verify who has the right to rent out the property and whether the address and room match the offer. Be careful with pressure to transfer money before seeing the home or reading the agreement. At handover, record meters, keys, furniture, appliances, walls, windows, and existing damage. Photographs with a date can help both sides remember the starting condition. Meldunek may be relevant for address administration, but it is separate from the rental contract and does not make a tenant the owner. Housing rules can also come from the building, housing community, or municipality. The main limits are high demand, language barriers, unclear fees, scams, and different contract types. When the agreement affects a large deposit or long stay, have the text explained before signing.
