State in Kosovo

Kosovo's state order is based on the Constitution adopted on 9 April 2008 and defines an independent, sovereign, democratic and unified republic. Public power is divided among the President, Assembly, Government, courts and municipalities, while fundamental rights include protections under the European Convention on Human Rights. Kosovo's international status remains contested, and UNMIK, KFOR and EULEX operate under separate international mandates rather than as organs of the Republic of Kosovo.
