Living in Kosovo

Kosovo is located in southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula and has around 1.8 million inhabitants. The landlocked country is characterized by mountains, high plateaus, and fertile plains; winters are often cold and snowy, while summers are generally warm and dry. In Pristina and other cities, many people live in apartments or single-family homes, while in rural areas they more often live in larger family houses. Buses connect communities, while outside the cities, cars are particularly important in everyday life. Many people work in trade, services, crafts, or agriculture; cafés, family visits, and social gatherings are common leisure activities. Housing, commuting distances, and leisure opportunities differ considerably between the capital, regional centers, and mountain villages.
