Religion in El Salvador

Religion in El Salvador is plural, with Catholic and evangelical or Pentecostal churches forming the largest organized communities. A 2024 UCA-IUDOP survey found 38.9% Catholic, 38.1% evangelical, 19.7% with no religion, 0.9% other religions and 2.4% agnostic or atheist; these are survey results, not census figures. Religious practice includes worship, prayer, processions and pilgrimages, while the Constitution protects free exercise and keeps religious acts separate from civil status.
