Living in Ukraine
Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe and stretches from the Carpathian region in the west to the Black Sea coast and the steppes in the south and east; around 44.6 million people live there. Wide plains, fertile soils, rivers such as the Dnipro, and wooded mid-mountain ranges shape the landscape. The climate is predominantly temperate continental: warm summers, cold winters, and milder conditions along the coast. Daily life in large cities differs markedly from that in villages: in Kyiv, Kharkiv, or Lviv, many people live in apartment buildings and use buses, trams, or trains, while houses, gardens, and longer distances are typical in rural areas. Work, family, and shared meals shape social life; in affected regions, damage and air-raid alerts influence everyday life.
