Language in Tajikistan

Tajik is the state language of Tajikistan and uses a Cyrillic standard for public administration, education and national cultural life. Russian remains widely used for interethnic communication, urban life, education and media, but it does not have the same state status. Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Pamiri and Yaghnobi languages are protected or used in particular regions and communities, although they do not generally have regional official-language status.
