Living in Cameroon

Cameroon is located in Central Africa on the Gulf of Guinea and stretches from the Atlantic coast to Lake Chad. Around 25.2 million people live there. The landscape includes humid coastal forests, tropical rainforest in the south, highlands and dry savannas in the north. The coast is warm and rainy, while the north experiences longer dry seasons and greater heat; temperatures remain cooler in the mountains. In Douala and Jaunde, many people live in densely built-up urban neighborhoods and get around by bus, taxi or motorcycle taxi. In rural areas, agriculture, markets and local crafts shape everyday life. Family life, football, music and social gatherings are important parts of leisure in many places.
