Housing in Bahrain

Apartments are common in central and densely built areas, while villas and compounds are found in many residential districts. Furnished, partly furnished, and unfurnished homes serve different lengths of stay. Location strongly affects daily life. A home near work may reduce traffic time, while access to schools, groceries, healthcare, parking, and public transport can be equally important. Rental agreements should identify the property, tenant, landlord, rent, payment method, term, deposit, notice arrangements, and maintenance responsibilities. Verbal promises should be added in writing. Utilities can include electricity, water, cooling, gas, internet, and building services. Bahrain’s electricity and water system is commonly associated with the term EWA, but responsibility for bills must be confirmed for each tenancy. Air conditioning is essential for much of the year. Tenants should test cooling, ask who maintains it, and understand whether its electricity or service cost is included. Before moving in, inspect plumbing, water pressure, locks, windows, appliances, pests, dampness, parking, lifts, and fire-safety features. Record existing damage with dated photographs. Buildings and compounds may have rules about guests, pets, noise, shared facilities, parking, and moving times. These rules can matter as much as the private unit itself. Ending a tenancy requires planning. Notice, inspections, outstanding bills, keys, cleaning, repairs, and deposit settlement should all be documented.
