Religion in Angola

Angola is a secular state with freedom of religion. According to the 2024 census, 44.2 percent of the population aged two and over identified as Catholic and 34.9 percent as belonging to Protestant churches; 11.5 percent reported no religion. Religious communities may organize worship services, educational activities, social projects and life rituals, but they need a formal recognition procedure for legally recognized institutional status.
