Language in Rwanda

Rwanda has a multilingual language landscape. Kinyarwanda is the national language and the main language of everyday life, culture and local participation. English, French and Kiswahili have official functions, but their practical availability differs across education, administration, media and business. An official language is recognized for defined public functions; that status does not guarantee equal use or translation in every service.
