Living in Mongolia
Mongolia lies between Russia and China and has around 3.2 million people. The vast country is characterized by steppes, deserts, grasslands, and mountains. Summers are generally dry and warm, while winters can be long, very cold, and particularly snowy in the northern and western regions. In Ulaanbaatar, many people live in apartments, use buses, and work in administration, trade, services, or industry. Outside the capital, families often live in houses or traditional yurts; livestock farming, mining, and regional businesses shape everyday life there. Distances are vast, so cars and local communities play an important role. In cities, people enjoy their free time in cafés and through cultural activities, while in rural areas it is often spent at family celebrations and outdoors.
