Living in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is located in Central Asia between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan; around 33 million people live there. The country stretches from dry deserts and vast plains to mountainous landscapes in the east. The climate is predominantly dry and continental: summers are often very hot, winters cool to cold, while the mountains receive more precipitation and snow. In Tashkent and other cities, many people live in apartments, travel by bus, train or car, and work in trade, administration, industry and services. In rural regions, detached houses, agriculture and smaller markets shape everyday life. Family visits, shared meals and festivals are important in many places; regional differences are also reflected in language, cuisine and the pace of life.
