Religion in Tuvalu

Religion in Tuvalu is dominated by Te Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu (EKT), also called the Church of Tuvalu, a Congregational Christian church followed by 86% of residents in the 2022 census. The Constitution protects freedom of thought, religion, belief, worship, teaching and observance, including the right not to hold or practise a religion. Religious practice is shaped by national rules, including a daily evening quiet period on all nine islands, and by Falekaupule approval requirements for some religious organisations. Churches also provide education, mark public holidays and conduct ceremonies such as weddings, while civil registration remains legally separate from religious rites.
