Living in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago lies in the southern Caribbean off the coast of Venezuela and comprises the larger island of Trinidad as well as Tobago; around 1.4 million people live there. Tropical forests, hills, rivers, and coastlines shape the landscape. The climate is warm year-round, with a drier and a wetter season; the mountains usually receive more rainfall than the plains. In the Port of Spain area, many people live in densely built-up urban neighborhoods and commute by car, bus, or maxi-taxi. In the south and inland, residential areas, agriculture, and industry are more spread out. On Tobago and in rural areas, life is generally quieter, with smaller communities, longer journeys, and closer ties to the sea, the neighborhood, and family.
