State in São Tomé and Príncipe

The State of São Tomé and Príncipe is a unitary, secular democratic state governed by the Constitution. Public authority is shared between the President, Assembleia Nacional, Government and courts, with separate but interdependent responsibilities. The country includes six districts on São Tomé and the Região Autónoma do Príncipe, which has its own political and administrative institutions.
