Insurance in Rwanda

Insurance in Rwanda uses contracts or statutory schemes to cover defined personal, property, liability or income risks. The market includes short-term and long-term cover, social protection, mutual and microinsurance products, and compulsory motor insurance. Licensed insurers, brokers, agents and bancassurance channels distribute private cover, while RSSB and public programmes administer statutory protection. Premiums, exclusions, claim deadlines and the responsible provider determine what protection actually applies.
