Environment in Congo Republic
Environment describes nature and surroundings as living space.
Nature
The Republic of the Congo contains extensive rainforest, savanna-forest mosaics, wetlands, peatlands, rivers, mangroves and coastal lagoons. Protected areas cover about 13.2% of the country and include national parks, fauna reserves, sanctuaries and community reserves. Forests, wildlife and wetlands support livelihoods, but access and use depend on laws, zoning, permits and local authorities.
Surroundings
Everyday surroundings in the Republic of the Congo include homes and concessions, drainage, roads, drinking water, sanitation, waste collection, lighting, air, noise, public spaces and exposure to floods and erosion. No single authority manages all these functions: ministries, municipalities, utilities, delegated operators and communities share responsibility. Conditions differ sharply between Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, other urban areas, and rural or flood-prone zones.
