Living in Panama

Panama is a narrow land bridge between Costa Rica and Colombia, connecting the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific; around 4.2 million people live there. Tropical rainforests, rivers, islands, and coastlines shape the country. It is generally warm year-round, humid along both coasts, and cooler in the higher-altitude regions; the rainy season affects daily life in many places. In Panama City, many people live in densely built-up neighborhoods and commute by bus, metro, or car, while in rural areas journeys are often longer. People work in sectors including trade, logistics, agriculture, and services. Leisure time is spent by the water, in parks, or with family and friends.
