Living in Nicaragua

Nicaragua is located in Central America between Honduras and Costa Rica, bordering the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean to the east. Around 6.5 million people live in the country. Volcanoes, large lakes, tropical forests and long coastlines shape the landscape. The Pacific coast is usually hot and dry during the dry season, while the Caribbean coast is more humid; the highlands have a milder climate. In Managua and other cities, many people live in simple houses or residential neighborhoods and get around by bus, taxi, motorcycle or on foot. In rural areas, agriculture, trade and crafts shape everyday life. Depending on the region, housing, transport routes and leisure activities differ considerably between cities, the coast and the highlands.
